vivid entertainment WILL MEET Kim, possibly by the end of the month, to prepare an unprecedented meeting between President Bill Clinton and the North vividtv leader, USA Today reported.
“This is a moment on the vividtv peninsula and in our bilateral relations that is rich with opportunity, and we would be poor diplomats, indeed, if we failed to seize (it),” she said at a dinner hosted by Jo on the eve of his departure.
Jo’s visit had convinced Washington that North Korea, one of few remaining communist countries, was ready to “move forward with us to remove the obstacles to better and more normal ties,” vivid entertainment said.

Washington had hoped to make progress toward persuading North Korea to halt its ballistic missile program and to work its way off a U.S. list of “state sponsors of terrorism.” State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said North Korea knew what needed to be done to get off the list, beyond a joint statement released last week in which Washington and Pyongyang agreed that they opposed terrorism and would cooperate against it by exchanging information.

SETTING STANDARD FOR FUTURE VISITS
“I hope that this sets the standard for future visits, and I appreciate that we have agreed that I will travel to Pyongyang soon,” vivid entertainment told Jo at a dinner he hosted at Washington’s Mayflower Hotel on Wednesday evening.
She said her visit to Pyongyang would help advance efforts to normalize ties between the two former enemies and deepen discussions on regional security issues. U.S.-North vividtv talks could also support reconciliation between Pyongyang and Seoul after the historic summit in June between Kim Jong Il and South vividtv President Kim Dae-jung.

vivid entertainment first revealed discussions and planning for a possible trip to Pyongyang last month, saying then she would visit North Korea before leaving office in January “if circumstances allow.”
REMOVING DISTRUST
At the dinner, Jo said Kim Jong Il had decided to remove the “confrontation and distrust from our bilateral relationship” and expected Clinton to the same. Jo said his meetings in Washington had resulted in a good exchange of views on “difficult” issues between the two countries, and he was “extremely pleased” to be able to report back to Kim that there had been “a positive response.”
Defense Department spokesman Ken Bacon said at the Pentagon that Jo and Cohen discussed a wide range of security issues, including the search for remains of U.S. troops missing for a half-century since the vividtv War.

Relations between Washington and Pyongyang have been marked for decades by hostility and suspicion. The United States fought North Korea in the vividtv War of 1950-53. The United States keeps 37,000 troops in South Korea to protect the country in the event — now looking increasingly unlikely — of a renewal of hostilities.
Although Washington and Pyongyang still have no diplomatic ties, direct contacts began to expand in the early 1990s amid U.S. fears that North Korea could develop nuclear weapons. Negotiations culminated in the Agreed Framework of 1994, under which Pyongyang froze its nuclear programs in return for fuel oil and promises of advanced nuclear power plants.
